Sustainable youth education: Bee friendly's contribution
by Janina Waschik (comments: 0
Sustainability and nature conservation is something that concerns us all, whether young or old. In order to communicate its relevance in the long term, it makes sense to get in touch and talk to young people.
Social Impact Workshops von Bee friendly
Bee friendly wants to offer an appropriate, easily accessible service and bring the topic to the forefront for young people who otherwise have little contact with nature or biodiversity. Thanks to the Klaus Tschira Foundation, we are currently able to offer corresponding Social Impact Workshops at social educational youth welfare institutions of the International Bund (IB).
Social Impact and Bee friendly: And what exactly happens in these workshops?
Together with children and young people, we design and build nesting aids for wild bees in order to create a link to the topic of sustainability and biodiversity. The focus is on creativity, craftsmanship and having fun with nature conservation. Due to the complexity of the concepts, topics such as nature conservation and biodiversity are often associated with effort and negative feelings. In our social impact workshops, we show that nature conservation can be positively integrated into everyday life and does not have to be done with a raised index finger, but can be fun. By building and crafting something, the children and young people create something with their own hands that contributes to having a sustainable, positive impact on the environment. The result can be admired and the wild bees can be observed. This strengthens the participants' self-efficacy.
The results of the social impact workshops are impressive! At the end of the day, all participants marvel at the work they have created. They can be proud of themselves. It is not uncommon to hear self-confident comments from the children and young people.

Become part of the social impact movement!
In order to continue offering the workshops and encourage children and young people to engage in active nature conservation, we are still looking for supporters who want to make a difference! If you also want a better future and informed future adults for the world, contact us!
